Design
In a sector dominated by derivative design and executive car clones, the Alfa 159 saloon and Sportwagon stand out. Designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro in collaboration with the Alfa Centro Stile, the Alfa 159 features the distinctive Alfa shield grille, V-shaped bonnet line and a high, rising waistline that accentuates its performance intent.
Performance
There are three petrol-engined models in the Alfa 159 range, all featuring direct injection, and two second-generation common-rail diesels. The diesel-engined 2.4 JTDM saloon reaches 62mph in 8.1 seconds yet returns 41.5mpg combined. Its stablemate, the 1.9 JTDM 16v returns 47.9mpg combined, with CO2 emissions of 159 g/km. All three petrol engines, a 1.8 MPI with 140bhp, a 2.2 16v with 185bhp and a 3.2 V6 with 260bhp, employ state of the art direct injection technology and variable valve timing on both inlet and exhaust camshafts. Both the 2.4 JTDM and 3.2 V6 engines are available in either front wheel drive or the advanced four-wheel drive Q4 system. A Q-Tronic automatic gearbox is also available on selected versions.
Features
The exceptionally stiff bodyshell of the Alfa 159 contributes to its outstanding handling and ride quality. It’s also the reason why the Alfa 159 saloon has a top-rated Euro NCAP five-star rating. Alfa 159 models are lavishly equipped, including Alfa Romeo’s unique Blue&Me™ system for on-board communication, information and personal entertainment as standard on Lusso and TI versions.

Alfa and Ducati, together in sport.
Alfa Romeo and Ducati, two power houses of motoring, have come together in a joint partnership representing the best of 'Made In Italy'.
The prestigious Ducati motorcycle team has now been joined by eight Alfa 159 saloons and Sportwagon vehicles to support the team on the circuits of the Grand Prix World Championship and the Superbike World Championship.
A collaboration between the two brands, amongst other things, involves the inclusion in the Borgo Panigale fleet of eight Alfa 159's and Alfa 159 Sportwagons. These cars are synonymous with comfort, safety and, above all, sportiness. The first model was handed over at Mugello by Sergio Cravero, the Alfa Romeo Brand Marketing Manager, to Federico Minoli, President and CEO of Ducati Motor Holding. Handover of the rest of the fleet took place at subsequent competitive meetings.
Alfa and Ducati have joined forces to promote Italian style and technology throughout the world. A wide-ranging initiative that also involves common advertising and marketing activities, using techniques aimed at further emphasising the natural association of these two prestigious brands.
