Mangoletsi in Knutsford has helped Alfa Romeo UK to achieve its highest sales figures since 2003, with total sales for 2009 up by a massive 52% on 2008.

According to the latest statistics from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), the Italian sporting marque substantially boosted its annual sales from 5,950 to 9,067 units, and against the backdrop of a declining UK car market, Alfa Romeo has enjoyed substantial growth in the past year.

Alfa Romeo sales success in 2009 has been accelerated by strong demand for the stylish new Alfa MiTo with more than 6,000 sold since its launch in January 2009. The Alfa GT, 159, Brera and Spider have also contributed to the increased sales figures.

Fraser Hudson, Managing Director at Mangoletsi says: “The launch of the Alfa MiTo has been a key to our sales this year. It’s sporty and stylish as well as fun to drive and, in the current climate, motorists have been especially keen to take advantage of the competitive pricing, low insurance ratings and incredible value for money.”

2010, which marks Alfa Romeo’s Centenary, promises to be an exciting year with the launch in the spring of the MiTo MultiAir - the latest in greener performance engines, and the sporty 5-door Alfa Giulietta this summer.
