A £70,000 Fiat 500

A RARE Fiat 500 painted by Tracey Emin will go under the hammer for an estimated £70,000.

The Italian supermini was reborn 10 years ago and to mark the occasion Fiat commissioned controversial contemporary artist Emin to design a vinyl wrap for four cars. And this example features sketches of bears on the bonnet and doors with her trademark signature scrawled on the dashboard.

The four limited edition vehicles were unveiled at the Royal Academy in 2007 and then sold at charity auctions, where one went for £200,000.

This one, called ‘Dark Dark Dark’, was sold to a private UK collector who has never registered it for the road and only ever accumulated 13 miles in it.

Fiat own two of the other Emin 500s while the last is part of a private European collection.

The current owner of this model has now decided to cash in on their unusual motor and it’s expected to rake in £70,000 with interest from car collectors and fine art dealers.

Emin is best known for her controversial work ‘My Bed’, an award-winning installation which depicts an unmade dirty bed that sold for £2.5million in 2014.
