The original Alfa Romeo Giulietta was produced from 1954 to 1965 and was a coupe unlike the new Alfa Romeo Giulietta which is an incredibly stylish 5 door family hatchback. The car came in various guises from the beautiful "Sprint" to the simply breathtaking "Sprint Veloce", both of which were penned by the genius hand of Bertone.

The most common was the Giulietta Colli Promiscua which was a saloon car and appealed to people in the same way Alfa's of today do. Simply by providing a thrilling performance and style in an everyday package.

The 2011 Alfa Romeo Giulietta is equipped with the brand new Multi-Air Engine, an international award winner that has put Alfa Romeo at the forefront of automotive technology. It is nothing new for Alfa Romeo to be blazing a trail in terms of engine innovation as the original car was the world's first production car to be fitted with a twin-cam engine a feature that has went on to become a feature of most production cars, particularly ones of from a sporting heritage.

The original car came with a Alfa Romeo Twin Cam engine of 1290 cc straight-4, with a light alloy cylinder block.. The new car however comes with a variety of engines; from the 120bhp 1.4l TB to the 235bhp 1750 TBi in the exclusive Cloverleaf specification.

When the Alfa Romeo Giulietta went in to production in the 1950s it brought the companys sporting heritage to a new appreciative audience. The car combined practicality and performance in a stylish and very Italian package.

The Giulietta of 2011 shows all the benefits over 50 years of technological development since it's original namesake: yet the two cars share a common inspiration and spirit.
