MiTo to debut new TCT Automatic Transmission

The Alfa Romeo MiTo, in addition to being the first car to launch the revolutionary MultiAir system, will also be the first car to feature the new, dual dry clutch automatic transmission known as Alfa TCT combined with Start&Stop, the system that manages temporary engine shut-down at stand still.

MiTo is the first Alfa Romeo to be equipped with the new Alfa TCT 6-speed gearbox. It is a transmission system with double dry clutch, consisting of two gearboxes in parallel that allow the next gear to engage while the previous one is still engaged.

Thanks to this architecture, Alfa TCT ensures non-stop supply of torque and traction without any loss of power whlie changing gears.

BENEFITS

- up to 10% less fuel consumption compared to the traditional automatic gearbox with torque converter

- for the first time a double clutch gearbox is combined with the Start & Stop system: the result is a major reduction of fuel consumption and emissions

- switch from automatic to manual sequential mode at the flip of a switch

- faster, smoother shifts without loss of power or mechanical jerking

- an even sportier driving feeling

The Alfa TCT switch has four positions: parking (P), reverse (R), neutral (N) and drive (D). The tip position switches to sequential shifting.

Gears can be changed in TIP mode with the up and down positions of the gear lever, or by using the steering wheel mounted controls.
