Readers vote for their Car of the Year and the Giulietta wins

The brand new five-door Alfa Romeo Giulietta captured the publics' vote in a recent online poll by Car Magazine ahead of the official Car Of The Year results released earlier this week.

In the official results, the Alfa Giulietta was pipped to first place by the Nissan Leaf, which registered 257 votes as opposed to Alfa's 248. However, in Car Magazine's online survey more than 45 per cent (1059 votes) of the site's viewers opted for the technical innovation of the Alfa Romeo ahead of the Dacia Duster with 12.97 per cent (340 votes) and Nissan Leaf, lodging 12.07 per cent (281 votes).

Damien Dally, Brand Communications Manager for Alfa Romeo UK, said:  "The performance of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta in the official Car Of The Year results was pleasing, just missing out on first place to the Nissan Leaf.

"The pole via Car Magazine shows how popular the car is with the public and we had almost half the votes in favour of the Giulietta. Both sets of results show positivity toward the brand and the new Giulietta model."

The compact five-door front wheel drive Giulietta follows it's namesake of the 1950s, which put the Italian manufacturer firmly on the map in terms of volume production. The new Giulietta combines a compromise of ride comfort and road behaviour with an approach of better uselfulness for families.
