Subaru BRZ Overhaul Revealed
Subaru has given its BRZ coupe a major overhaul to retain its position as one of the best coupes on the market.
Developed with Toyota – which has its GT86 – the Subaru is a harder edged car and has been even more finely honed but the upgrades go right through the car taking in the exterior, interior, powertrain, suspension and safety
The outside changes are more than just cosmetic. It now has a slightly wider stance at the front and the stepped accent on the bumper limits airflow into the air intake. For the first time on a Subaru it has full-LED headlights at the front, a new lamp design at the rear and a revised spoiler at the back too.
Inside, a multi-information display has been added and among other things it features a G force meter, steering angle gauge, brake force gauge, lap timer and torque/power curves for bringing out the sportier side of any driver.
It will feel more upmarket too with higher quality materials throughout the cabin, including Alcantara and leather seats.
The trademark flat four `boxer' engine has been retained but the cylinder block is now stronger, there is a lower friction camshaft wand lighter rocker arms.
The ride is smoother but also flatter, with less roll through corners and less pitch under braking.
Stay tuned for further information over the next few months.
