A UK price and launch date has been announced for the Abarth 595 Trofeo, which is a follow-up on to the UK concept of the 595 Trofeo Edition from 2015.
The Abarth 595 Trofeo is based on the 595 Pista on display at the Geneva Motor Show 2017 and comes with a 1.4-litre TJet petrol engine, which is good for 158bhp. 0-62mph is said to take 7.3 seconds, while the top speed is 134mph.
It will be available as a convertible, in case you want to enjoy a British 'summer' to its fullest, and a manual gearbox, so you can enjoy a more involving drive than an automatic would afford.
Five exterior colours will be available, including Abarth Red, Campovolo Grey, Record Grey and Scorpione Black, each of which will contrast with either yellow, black or red rear dam inserts and wing mirrors. 17-inch matt black Formula Alloy wheels are standard.
Separating the Abarth 595 Trofeo from its standard 500 cousin is the Abarth Telemetry system, which comes built into the seven-inch Uconnect infotainment system. The idea is that a driver can record their lap time and other data to help analyse their driving performance.
Not only that, the Uconnect system features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support for hooking up an iPhone and Android device, respectively.
"The new Trofeo is a novel and exciting idea for the 595 range," Abarth UK brand manager Gerry Southerington said.
He added: "The extra standard equipment means it’s excellent value for money, while the technology such as the telemetry, makes it an ideal choice for customers who want to test their car’s performance on a racetrack. It’s a winning combination."
The 595 Trofeo Edition was less powerful and only 250 examples were brought to the UK whereas the 595 Trofeo will be built in a non-limited fashion with greater levels of customisation available to customers.
The Abarth 595 Trofeo will be available from £17,290 for the hatchback and from £19,290 if you want the cabriolet. It will arrive in the UK by the end of March, 2017.
